ICE transforms Elstree Aerodrome with upgraded Aviation Centre!

ICE Helicopters, a division of ICE London, are delighted to announce their expansion into a major new space at Elstree Aerodrome that will combine helicopter flight training with offices, meeting rooms and fixed base operator facilities. By introducing a raft of new helicopter services to the aerodrome, the company’s vision is to make Elstree the new heliport of choice for the capital.

The investment comes as ICE Helicopters ramps up its helicopter flight training offering with its growing fleet and team of in-house instructors and examiners. Staffed entirely by pilots and student pilots, the company offers all levels of flight training courses approved by EASA, with bespoke plans to suit student pilots of all abilities and experience. Trial lessons are also available for those thinking about learning to fly, and with the aerodrome’s close proximity to London, these look set to bring an influx of new visitors.

Particularly noteworthy is the school’s goal of creating the first fixed-price PPL(H), which offers greater financial transparency for new student pilots who want to budget carefully. Type ratings, turbine training, renewals, ground school and other aspects of helicopter flight training will also be offered at the new facilities, which include a student & crew lounge, planning & briefing rooms and a dedicated flight operations office.

The 9,000 square foot building on Hogg Lane has a modern glass front attached to a hangar at the rear, shared between ICE Helicopters and Elstree Aviation Centre, all under the operation of the renowned ICE London Group.

The Elstree Aviation Centre combines all the facilities of a fixed base operator in a modern, comfortable and relaxed space where aerodrome users can come and go, utilise meeting rooms, enjoy refreshments and watch aircraft from a viewing platform looking out over the airfield. HEMS and Police staff will be able to drop in for free tea and coffee 24 hours a day, seven days a week, while pilots will be able to have their medicals carried out on site.

Dedicated small and medium sized meeting rooms have been fully furnished to appeal to those hosting formal, casual or boardroom style meetings. You can even benefit from the on-site hangarage to ensure your aircraft is secured indoors for the day.

The Aviation Centre will also offer a brand-new selection of modern, fully furnished VIP suites that can be hired for parties, launches and other events of any size. Optional on-site catering packages will offer straightforward event planning to local businesses and private individuals.

“With its perfect location for stress-free travel into London, we believe Elstree is the future of helicopter operations for London,” says Jack Fox, Head of Operations at ICE Helicopters.

“As we expand our approach to flight training, we’re excited to be supporting London’s aviation community with a wide range of services ranging from hangarage to passenger-to-helipad handling.”

The investment in the aerodrome will be seen as a positive step for general aviation at a time when many airfields are under threat from housing developers.
